Youth Schedule

The North Bay YMCA offers a full complement of youth programs, including sports, music, dance and all-in-one programs. Check out our program times and descriptions below. **All Programs Begin September 17th**

Badminton (Drop In)
Monday 6:30 – 7:30 (Ages 5-12 years)

This program teaches the basic skills of serving and positioning in the game of badminton while being active and having fun.

Spike and Volley (Drop In)
Monday 7:30 – 8:30 (Ages 5-12 years)

This program teaches the basic skills of serving, setting, bumping and positioning in the game of volleyball, all while being active and having fun.

Music Lessons (Registration Required)
Tuesday 5:30 – 6:00 (Ages 5-12 years)
Thursday 5:30 – 6:00 (Ages 5-12 years)

This program will focus on teaching drums and guitar to youth.

DRUM Do you have a drum set just lying around the house and you haven’t learned to play it yet? In these weekly sessions we have fun with rhythms, hand drums, stick drums and movement while learning about percussion. Learn the first steps of playing the drums using a practice pad and drumsticks. You will be learning patterns, notes and proper grip techniques. You will need to bring a practice pad and sticks to the class.

GUITAR An introduction to music and guitar exploring rhythm, melody and harmony. Learn in a relaxed and fun group environment. No previous experience needed.

Kids Bootcamp (Drop In)
Tuesday 6:00 – 7:00 (Ages 5-12 years)

This program offers obstacle courses, crazy games and loads of fun!

Hoops (Drop In)
Tuesday 7:00 – 8:00 (Ages 5-12 years)

This program is designed for children to develop their basketball skills. Each week will include different aspects of the game including shooting, passing, dribbling and teamwork.

Kickers (Drop In)
Wednesday 5:30 – 6:30 (Ages 5-12 years)

This program is a great opportunity for children to learn the game of soccer and develop some basic soccer skills. Soccer is not a summer-exclusive sport, so come indoors and try it out!

Floor Hockey (Drop In)
Thursday 6:00 – 7:00 (Ages 5-12 years)

A great Canadian game! In this drop-in program, children will learn teamwork and sportsmanship. Lots of playtime guaranteed!

Ringette (Drop In)
Thursday 7:00 – 8:00 (Ages 5-12 years)

In its hometown of North Bay, children will learn the basic skills of stick handling, passing, receiving, shooting and positioning in the game of ringette all while being active and having fun.

All In One (Registration Required)
Saturday 9:00 – 12:00 (Ages 6-12 years)

Youth in this program participate in a variety of programs during their time including gym games, swimming lessons and crafts. This program incorporates your 1 swim lesson included in your membership. Please bring a peanut free snack, bathing suit/towel.

Squash (Registration Required)
Saturday 9:45 – 10:30 (Beginners Ages 5 – 8 years)
Saturday 10:30 – 11:15 (Beginners Ages 9 – 12 years)
Saturday 11:15 – 12:00 (Intermediate Ages 9 – 12 years)

If your child enjoys raquet sports then they should try their hand in the fast-paced game of squash.

Shake Your Groove Thang (Registration Required)
Saturday 10:30 – 11:15 (Ages 5-8)
Saturday 11:15 – 12:00 (Ages 9-12)

This funky fresh program will give youth the opportunity to express themselves creatively through music and movement.

Kids in the Kitchen (Registration Required)
Saturday 1:30 – 2:30 (Ages 5-8)
Saturday 2:30 – 3:30 (Ages 9-12)

Join us in the kitchen for fun healthy snacks that you make with your own hands. Participate in a variety of energetic activities that will work up your appetite.

Babysitting Course (Registration Required)
Wednesday 6:30 – 8:00 (Ages 11-16)
September 21 – November 2
January 11 – February 15
April 4 – May 16

In this course, youth will learn the basic skills and knowledge to care for young children. Earn your CPR Level C and basic first aid certificates. 100% course attendance is required.

On My Own (Registration Required)
Wednesday 6:30 – 8:00 (Ages 10-13)
November 9 – December 14
February 22 – March 28

This is a program that prepares pre-teens for the responsibility of staying at home alone. Your child will gain self-confidence, learn how to conduct a home safety check and more! 100% course attendance is required.
