YMCA FULL-DAY CURRICULUM & YMCA Child Care Centres
(INFANCY TO 3.8 YEARS)

The YMCA of North Bay follows our national curriculum for full-day early learning called YMCA Playing to Learn. Our curriculum is play-based and focuses on the interests of the child, where our qualified educators use those interests to plan intentional learning objectives. We take great pride that our curriculum is harmonized with the Ministry of Education’s Full-Day Early Learning Kindergarten Program and is aligned with the ELECT framework. Our over-arching goal is to provide children with a strong learning foundation that will assist them in a successful entry to school (Kindergarten).

YMCA SCHOOL-AGE ~ EXTENDED DAY
(4 – 5 YEARS)

The YMCA’s Extended Day Program for 4 and 5 year old children follows the Ministry of Education’s Extended Day Program which is a supportive extension to your child’s Full-Day Kindergarten Program. The Extended Day Program compliments the Ministry’s 6 areas of learning through a variety of fun, developmentally appropriate play-based activities.

YMCA SCHOOL-AGE ~ EXTENDED DAY
(6 – 12 YEARS)

The YMCA’s Extended Day Program for children from 6 to 12 years of age builds upon the continuum of the Extended Day Program for 4 & 5 year olds, but has a more deliberate focus on the older child and delivery of a traditional YMCA recreational program. Our early educators and leaders strive to mentor, support and build upon self-esteem, interdependence, team building and an awareness of overall good health and well-being, all while having fun.

YMCA LICENSED HOME CHILD CARE SERVICES
(INFANCY TO 12 YEARS)

YMCA Licensed Home Child Care is often the choice for parents who are looking for a quality program that offers greater flexibility (extended hours, overnights, weekends), a smaller group size (1:5 ratio) and a program that is located in a home environment. Through a careful selection process, each self-employed child care provider receives ongoing support from the YMCA Home Child Care Consultants, who visit each program regularly, in addition to annual visits by the Ministry of Education.
