Child Care

“A good place for your child to play, learn and grow.”
Infancy to 12 years
THE YMCA DIFFERENCE… WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE…

YMCA Children’s Services has been providing children and families with high-quality educational child care for more than 150 years. Our services include a variety of child care options to meet the diverse needs of our families and community. Our registered Early Childhood Educators and Early Learning Practitioners are qualified professionals that provide your child with the best possible care.

YMCA FULL-DAY CURRICULUM & EARLY LEARNING TEAM (INFANCY TO PRESCHOOL)

The YMCA of North Bay follows our national play-based curriculum called YMCA Playing to Learn. Our curriculum is lead by registered Early Childhood Educators and Early Learning Practitioners that follow the interest of the children, who then take those interests to plan intentional learning objectives. We take great pride that our curriculum is harmonized and aligned with the Ministry of Education’s Full-Day Early Learning Kindergarten Program and the ELECT Principles. Our over-arching goal is to provide the children with a consistent foundation that will make their transition into the school (Kindergarten) a success.

YMCA SCHOOL-AGE ~ EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM (4 & 5 YEAR OLDS)

The YMCA’s Extended Day School-Age Program for 4 & 5 year old children follows the Ministry of Education’s Extended Day Program which is a supportive extension to your child’s Full-day Kindergarten Program. The extended day program complements the Ministry’s ‘6 areas of learning’ through a variety of fun, developmentally appropriate play-based activities.

YMCA SCHOOL-AGE ~ EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM (6 – 12 YEARS)

The YMCA’s Extended Day School-Age program for children 6 to 12 years of age builds upon the continuum of the extended day program for 4 & 5 year olds, but has a more deliberate focus on the older child and delivery of a traditional YMCA recreational program. Our early educator leaders strive to mentor, support and build upon self-esteem, interdependence, team building and an awareness and importance of overall good health ~all while having fun. Staff program plan by using a variety of YMCA resources such as, YMCA Healthy Childhood Development program (Hive-Five), CATCH, the 40 Developmental Assets and our YMCA’s Core Values.

YMCA LICENSED HOME CHILD CARE SERVICES (INFANCY TO 12 YEARS)

YMCA Licensed Early Learning Home Child Care Services is often the child care of choice for parents who are looking for a quality early learning program which offers more flexibility in hours, a smaller group size (1:5 ratio) and a home environment. Through a careful selection process, each self-employed child care Provider receives the ongoing support of a YMCA Licensed Home Child Care Consultant, which visits each program regularly to ensure Ministry and YMCA guidelines are compliant.
